The latter work is highly — and very bi tiful, and is destined for the frigates Sabine and Santee Cambotses and powder tanks for various vessels are also being manufactured in this department, which is under the man it of Mr. Abel @. Davis The work on the marine railway is progress ing fively. The rails have all been laid down and the cradle is nearly completed. This magsive and enduring work will, when fin- ished, add another to the many facilities ot this yard f:r improving the condition of the vessels of our gallant little navy. We ho ere long to have an opportunity of testing its practical working. In the joiner’s department, the ‘km are employed on the improvements of various buildings in the yard, in dressing the fine work for the Minnesota, and making ordnance shell-boxes. All the work done inthis branch under the supervision cf Mr B B.
