Bank of Pennsylvania, figuring way in fs :aliant tyle. 1l i enumerates many evils, and e nueh allgoied smanagemet growing out of this state intstitution, and to these hie ascribes the pres. af ent oembrrassmeants in business. There may be qui mismanagement in conducting its affairs for what a we know. It is amnong the many hundred State Banks engendered and sprung into existence by Al the policy and acts of the administration of the an general government for the last six years. That ti it has been improperly managed in sore respects is a very probabhle; but this has dtubt ess grown out p of the peculiar state of things ix ttmtg in the whole to United States. Loft without a helad to r. gulate the to exchanges and keep up a uniform national crren. i iy, this bank, has, no doubt with many other state ti banks, resorted to many shifts and means to carry on and extend its busines, contrary to the true policy of legitimate banking. For instance, bank . should never become speculating merchants, and monopolize trade, in buying and sitipping cotton or produce, ais has been too illmuch the practice with in the last few years, by many of the banks. This, however, on'y proves that when thie tate banks are . left to themselves, there will be over bankind, be. cause they are without any check or control, and in their effolrt to got funds abroad for remittance, and on wht ch to draw bills and fiturnish exchange, they run into many abuses, which cause confusion ur in the trade and monied concerns of the country. I..They cannot, if they would, act in unison, and I'produc Iarmony and regularity in tli currency andt in trade. The consequence is, suspension of specie payment, scarcity of money and lprde-sre in all mouncy mtatters, hoit ver solvcent the barnks tnay st lhe individually ; and a rainouta embarrassment in to commerce and the legitimate business of the couti ar try. put lBut oar neighbor seas no vils in the present day l5s but what he can trace to this far.famed U. S. Bank of Pennsylvania. Ile then appeals to American hearts, if cGn. Jackson did not do right in veto. C ing the re.charter of the I to national bank. Every American who loves the prosperity of his country nshould say no ! and if we are not greatly mistalaen ds every American will soy no, ere long. Look at thie contrast between t ye pr esint ruinous elate lof e. every branch of business, and the prosperity that cr reigned throughout the country when the national ton bank charter was vetoed in 1832.3. Thren we had Sa unilorml, sound national curroecy, good every l where. Trade was p osperous ; all our staple com-. : modities bore a high price ; cuterprize was encour. uit- aged; industry rewarded, and the laboring classes 25 all getting independent, prosperous, and even rich. Noa( trade and commerce are prostrate; produce has become a drug in our market ; our currency and imonied affairs involved in the greatest conlfuioan ' and diflfculty, and evidently becoming worse Thisl state of things has been produced by political mord. dliing, impertinent and corrupt interferen. e of the administration of the national government in our monied and business affairs; aad this too for party purposes, to subserve the wicked views of our ru le rs . " No mail again yesterday; and if ever there was y. a real excuse for a filure of the mail, Mr. Breed. or- love will have one toiday, fur at this time, Friday sd, night, 8 o'clock, it is blowing almost a hurricane. In our answer to "An Ahlerman," we may havt committed the error of hitting the wrong personi . no' It no, awe shall feel sorry; the truth is, the name ae of another lartS been suggested 1t :s, btla lie i sno completely insihgnificant in every point of view that we cannot imagine for an instant, that our in. lh f oriantts are correct.
