For the benefit of such we quote lrom an east ern Dmoeratic paper, the following: If Beauregard should be found iu Washington to-day, unarmed, accord ing to the strict letter of the Constitu tion the President could not interfere with him, farther than to have him ar rested subject to a requisition from Gov. Letcher! To hold nim for trial in a loyal state or district, would be in con flict with that clause in the constitution which says the trials of all crimes "shall be held in the state where the said crimes shall have been committed." Mr. Jefferson—strict constructionists as he was—approved the sending of Burrs confederates from New Orleans to Washington, to be dealt with.
